Gill Sans Typeface

Gill Sans typeface was created when Eric Gill painted a sign on a bookshop in Bristol in 1926. Gill was asked by the English Typographer Stanley Morison to develope a type to rival various German fonts. Gill Sams was used on parts of the London Underground in 1929 which was when it became popular.
