Adana Quarto Printing Press

The Adana Quarto Printing Press has a printing area approximately 7 inches by 8 inches.

Some models come with dual ink rollers.

In operation ink was placed on the shiny sheet of metal on the left.  Paper was placed on the vertical plate at the right hand side.  Type was placed facing up in the middle section.  When an impressions was to be made the handle at the far right was lifted forward.  This caused the vertical fingers to grab the paper while the plate was moved downwards on to the type.  The handle then hooked under the metal bracket running over the machine.  This forced the paper on to the type creating the impression.  The roller meanwhile had moved over to the left and picked up more ink.  When the handle is released and lifted up, the ink roller moves back over the type and re-ink it read for the next impression.  The fingers release the paper at the last minute allowing it to be removed.
